David SeychellHi, my name is David Seychell, and I live in Mississauga, a suburb of Toronto, Ontario. Welcome to my fundraising/information site, regarding the Tour des Trees 2003 (yes, bilingual!). This year, this epic bicycle ride is from Reno, NV to Half Moon Bay (San Francisco area), CA, doing 380+ miles (610+ km) in 5 days, in Sept 2023. I guess this is relatively light for this ride, as I heard there have been some 600 miles covered in the past.
That is not why I decided to join this year. For the past 20 years I heard wonderful stories about this ride from friends, but I unfortunately could not join. Between work commitments, injury recovery, and Covid-19 restrictions, I could not participate in the past. I am now retired, healthy and free to roam! I am asking for your support and donations to help this cause. This tour helps ongoing research and education involving ‘trees’, a wonderful but declining resource all around our world. When I was young, we played around trees, climbed them, ate their fruit. Now, we have them in our streets and gardens, but very few think about all the good things that tress provide. Wow, now I am going to be riding a bike through California’s redwood country, cool! I like biking because it is just our power, our legs, our bodies, that can cover so much distance in a relatively short time. All the horsepower (or Kilowatts) are left in garages, and we let granola bars and protein shakes do the trick…. The tour also engages with local communities to continue tree education and fundraising. Now, the funds raised here in Canada go to the Canada Tree Fund, supporting many beneficial causes throughout our land. All donations get a registered tax receipt. If you want, you also get acknowledgements and recognition in the Canadian Tree Fund newsletter and web sites. |
